She's here

Halcyon Yvie Priest arrived at 1:57am on April 1.

We’re so happy to introduce Halcyon Yvie Priest, the latest love of our lives. We like "Halcie" for short. She arrived at 1:57am on April 1, weighing 8lb 14oz. Alex accidentally made the most epic April Fool's joke and declared her a boy before really getting a good look. 😂

I guess it’s clear we like unique names at this point. "Halcyon Yvie Priest" weaves together an ancient symbol of tranquility (what can we say, we're optimistic) with the essence of life (which we're infinitely grateful for, especially after what has been a rough, and at times, scary couple weeks).

"Halcyon," rooted in Greek mythology, symbolizes calm and peace, drawing from the legend of the maiden-turned-kingfisher-bird that calmed the wind over the seas. You know we love a wind tie-in. 🌬️ It's a beautiful love story if you’re interested in the full Greek myth of Alcyone. And her name is already sprouting lots of cute nicknames: Halcie, Hal Pal, Hal Gal, Halcie-bear, Halcie Berry.

"Yvie," a modern twist on "Eve” (pronounced “Ee-vee”), carries the fundamental meaning of "life" from Hebrew, signifying vitality and existence.

Halcie has done wonderfully through what was an exceedingly unlikely and complicated VBAC birth (befitting of her name!). In an effort not to spook anyone, Miranda’s birth story is here on our website. Please only click through if you want to read a birth story that went off the rails in an exceedingly rare way—it’s definitely not for everyone. She is recovering steadily now after 8 days in the hospital, and she’s so happy to be home.

Zeph is handling the transition wonderfully, and is a very proud and helpful big brother so far. Digs is at training camp and we miss him a lot, but we’ll have him back in a couple weeks once Miranda is more mobile.

We can’t wait to introduce you to little Halcie soon—she’s got loads of smiles to share.

Sending our love from Austin,
Alex, Miranda, Zeph, Halcie, and Digs
