I think what you are noticing is that losing feels worse than winning feels good. So the losses weigh on you while you have all but forgotten the wins! (My mother is your mothers good friend in Washington, IN)

"What if you spent 15 minutes every day thinking about what you’ve failed at? And then try to fix it and succeed next time." << Not enough people do this, and it's incredibly insightful. Enjoyed this post.

OMG Alex, I always drink (actually crave) tomato juice on planes too. I've developed this (entirely unscientific) theory that it contains nutrients that help combat the effects of air travel on the human body. Wouldn't it be great if it turned out to be true.

Mmmmmm, bourbon. Almost as warming and fiery as a single malt Scotch. I'd bring some with me to DC, if you were going to be there!

I sometimes get tomato juice, but I'm more likely to get Bloody Mary mix if it's available. It's almost always got extra crap in it that I don't really need or want, like loads of salt, but I like the flavor -- and I find I rarely miss the vodka. (If a flight attendant wants to offer me a free drink because I brought them snacks, as I almost always do, then I'll probably take the vodka.)

Coffee has been unreliable on flights, so while I may try to get some if I'm sleep deprived, the Bloody Mary mix is a safer bet. And, yes, with a little ice. It's not that refreshing at room temperature.
