Back in Copenhagen with Mixed Emotions

I’m back, but still not quite sure if I’m happy about it or not. Don’t get me wrong, I love Copenhagen–it’s a wonderful city and the Danes are wonderful people–but I’m getting to miss the States quite a bit. And after visiting so many amazing places in the past two weeks (it really all feels like a dream), that last flight seemed like it should’ve been headed back to Kentucky, not the other direction.

Not to mention I’m not exactly thrilled about coming back to classes and work, either.

But speaking of my travel–I’m not going to go into a lot of detail because I’ll have pictures up (eventually, I promise) but Dublin was amazing! Easily one of my favorite cities, and it was a blast hanging out with some friends from AU.

And lastly, I’ve finally made travel plans for Thanksgiving! I’ve decided I’m actually going back to London, for a couple of reasons. First of all, it’s the cheapest place to get to from here, not that that’s saying a whole lot. Copenhagen is evidently not a popular destination, so flights are ALWAYS far overpriced–like everything in Scandinavia. Whatevs. Anyway, I also got to thinking–do I really want to spend my Thanksgiving holiday alone, in a foreign country where no one speaks English, much less celebrates this American holiday? I foresaw a pretty depressing weekend, regardless of the amazing place(s) I might have seen.

London is still an amazing place. And despite my week there in October, I came far short of seeing all I’d like to see in the city. And finally, it gives me a chance to celebrate Thanksgiving with all my American (and American University) friends, the American way–lots of food, drink and fun times. I can’t wait.
