Inspired by one of my best friends, I’m going to start a list of 100 things you may not have known about me. It’s a good exercise for reflecting on the past and the future, and I hope you enjoy reading as much as I’m going to enjoy writing. Without further ado…
- I love to start new things. I don’t always finish them. But I live by the rule that it’s better to have lots of ideas and follow through on most of them, than to have no ideas and ambition at all.
- I was born an army brat and a southern boy, in Fort Knox, KY, on February 9, 1989.
- I’ve always loved listening and playing music. I’ve played the piano since I was eight years old, and still play when I need some alone time. I’ve played the trumpet since I was 10 years old, and devoted my high school years to marching band, concert band, pep band, jazz band, and indoor winter ensembles (where I led pit percussion).
- My most formative experiences have been traveling abroad: in 2007, to Tokyo, Japan; in 2009, to Copenhagen, Denmark. On both trips I learned more about myself than I thought was possible, and came back a very different person.
- After biking through wind, rain, and snow in Copenhagen, I came back a hardcore bicyclist, too. I think I’ll bike until the day I die.
- The rumors are true, I do indeed spend quite a lot of time on Twitter.
- I’m rigid in my convictions but open to reasonable debate. Some things I feel very strongly about, others I can be swayed. Talk to me to find out what they are.
- I love trying new and unique wines, beers, and spirits. And obviously, I love bourbon (being from Kentucky and all).
- Someday I want to own a boat. Not because I love the beach, but because I love the water.
- My clothing of choice is jeans and t-shirts. I’m a big fan of Threadless, Jon Wye, and Arquebus.
